D-MAX X-Terrain: The Works

Meet the new Isuzu D-MAX X-Terrain ute, the top dog of the range. The X-Terrain exterior comes decked out with side steps, a sports blade and a greyéd out body kit, because why not? And don't worry, it still comes with Isuzu's legendary 3-litre turbo diesel engine, loved by Good Bastards across New Zealand for its durability and grit.

She's more than just a pretty face, though. The X-Terrain comes with all the extra bells and whistles you could want: Adaptive Cruise Control, tailgate assist and a 9-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation. And to make sure you get home safe, the X-Terrain has a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, with the help of Isuzu's Intelligent Driver Assistance System (IDAS*).

The Isuzu 4JJ3

The Isuzu 4JJ3-TCX 3.0L turbo-diesel common rail engine features fuel injection optimisation and a large front-mounted intercooler to deliver smooth, dependable performance. Backed by 90 years of diesel engine expertise, Isuzu is an established global leader in developing capable and efficient engines.

Torque when you need it

The advanced 3.0L turbo-diesel engine delivers 140kW and 450Nm of torque, available from 1,600 to 2,600rpm. This wide, usably torque band provides strong take-off and smooth acceleration, making the D-MAX easy to drive when carrying a load or towing up to 3.5T.

6-speed transmission

The 6-speed automatic gearbox delivers smooth, consistent shifts across everyday driving conditions. It works with the engine to provide controlled power delivery, supporting towing, carrying a load and long hauls.

Technology

The D-MAX brings an entire new level of technology to the range. X-Terrain models include a large 9.0" touchscreen with a satellite navigation system. Apple CarPlay & Android Auto phone mirroring capability allows you to project sat nav directions, play music, make and receive calls and more. For the owner that spends plenty of time on the open road, the X-Terrain also includes adaptive cruise control which automatically adjusts your speed depending on the vehicle in front of you.

Safety

Standard across the range, Isuzu’s Intelligent Driver Assistance System (IDAS) technology includes an extensive list of both active and passive safety systems. Employing state-of-the-art sensors and a stereo camera, IDAS constantly monitors your surrounding environment for danger. Should it detect a collision is imminent, the system will work to help the driver to defuse dangerous situations via alert systems and automated functions. Each D-MAX model includes eight airbags as standard and a stronger, more robust chassis, as well as a reinforced cabin safety cell for ultimate protection.

Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control

When Traffic Sign Recognition detects a new speed sone, the IACC can change the vehicle speed and can activate the brakes when brake lights are detected ahead.

For ultimate protection, every D-MAX comes with eight airbags including a centre airbag to protect front seat occupants in side-on collisions.

5-Star ANCAP Safety Rating

A 5-star ANCAP rating is the pinnacle of safety a vehicle can achieve in Australia. The Isuzu D-MAX achieved a 5-star rating against ANCAP’s stringent testing criteria, making it one of the safest vehicles on New Zealand roads.

Forward Collision Warning

An audible warning sounds and red warning lights flash on the dashboard when an obstacle is detected in your path. If your D-MAX detects a potential collision is imminent, emergency braking is applied automatically.

Electronic Stability Control

ESC kicks-in when under or oversteering occurs and helps restore control.

Trailer Sway Control

TSC will apply brakes to individual vehicle wheels to help bring the trailer safely back under control.

Lane Keep Assist & Departure Prevention

The Lane Keep Assist system is designed to detect road lane markings and assist steering operation by keeping your vehicle in its lane while Adaptive Cruise Control is engaged. This feature can be disabled.

Lane Departure Warning alerts the driver when the vehicle starts to drift out of the current lane. This feature can also be disabled via the Lane Support System Switch.

Emergency Lane Keeping & Blind Spot Monitoring

If there is a danger of collision with vehicles approaching from behind in an adjacent lane, the vehicle will help avoid collision by preventing lane departure. This feature can be disabled.

Reversing Camera

Experience higher image quality and brighter view with the D-MAX's improved digital reversing camera.

Autonomous Emergency Braking

Isuzu's Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) is a core component of its IDAS (Intelligent Driver Assistance System), using stereo cameras to detect vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists to prevent or mitigate collisions. It provides audible/visual warnings before automatically applying brakes if the driver fails to react.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Monitors your surrounding area while reversing into traffic, providing visual and audible warnings should an object approach from left to right.
